Rhapsody 4 MidiSetup File
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This file contains information about what devices are physically
connected to which port and the range of channels which that device is
programmed to respond to. Note that this file and the associated Tones and
Keymaps files are used solely to provide the user with information about the
MIDI voices which are available in the appropriate windows. They do
not in themselves affect the way Rhapsody operates. For example, if
the information below does not correspond to the MIDI setup attached
to the computer, the names given to the voices will be wrong but you
can still program Rhapsody to send appropriate program change messages
etc.
The device name is the name of a directory inside the MidiSetup
directory which contains information about that device. That directory must
contain a 'Tones' file and, if needed, a 'Keymaps' file.
Ports are numbered #1-#4.
Channels are numbered 1-16.
IF similar devices are attached to different ports or arbitrary channels,
they can be listed in the following way:
eg #1/1-4,10 #2/11-16:"ABC99"
This means that there is a device called ABC99 attached to Port 1 which
is programmed to received data on channels 1-4 and channel 10. There is also
a second similar device attached to Port 2 programmed to receive channels
11-16.
This is the file for a GM setup which has standard voices on all
channels except for channel 10 which is dedicated to the drumkit.
#1/1-9,11-16 :"GM"
#1/10 :"GMDrumKit"
